Vision and Mission The Alliance for Addiction Solutions envisions a profound transformation in the treatment of addiction, making nutrient therapy and other modalities for supporting core physical deficits the foundation for recovery. The goal of treatment will no longer be abstinence alone, but also the elimination of cravings and the creation of optimal well-being through biochemical restoration. AAS envisions being a widely utilized and trusted source of information on effective holistic treatments for addictive disorders. AAS envisions widespread, easily accessible treatment centers where nutrient therapy, acupuncture, exercise, dietary counseling, comprehensive detoxification, identification and correction of allergies, and a broad range of multidisciplinary approaches are readily available. Beliefs: Addiction to substances (such as drugs, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and sugar) and to compulsive behaviors (such as gambling, sex, pornography, and violence) are symptoms of biochemical imbalances caused by a variety of factors, including nutritional, hormonal, neurotransmitter-related, toxicological, psychological, and genetic. Addictive behavior is primarily an attempt to self-medicate abnormal biochemistry. Children and adults with learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, mood disorders, and mental illness are especially at risk of self-medicating with addictive substances or behaviors, or of being addicted to prescription drugs. The Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR) was founded in 2011 out of the need to evaluate and monitor standards-based recovery support services provided in community-based, residential settings throughout Florida. FARR is the Florida Affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR). Our Philosophy FARR supports Recovery Residence providers in their effort to deliver quality recovery-oriented housing opportunities to persons in recovery who seek to reside in abstinence-based, peer supportive environments. We believe this is best achieved through encouraging and monitoring provider compliance with national standards promulgated for this purpose. We further believe that all people have the right to recover in an atmosphere which meets their special needs as well as their basic needs for safety, dignity and respect. Our Intent To fairly certify Florida Recovery Residences, on a voluntary basis, as having demonstrated compliance with the NARR Standard and FARR Code of Ethics. FARR provides training for owners, managers and staff of Recovery Residences to enhance and inform their delivery of quality services. Our Commitment FARR is committed to provide fair, impartial support and encouragement to recovery residence providers who express a willingness to achieve compliance with the NARR Standard and FARR Code of Ethics. We Believe: *Addiction is a chronic disease that is amenable to preventive and treatment interventions. *Outcomes achieved in addictions treatment are comparable to other chronic diseases. *A continuum of evidence-based services should be available to meet the need. *Services are provided when stakeholders collaborate and services are effectively integrated. *Addiction treatment is a sound investment that saves taxpayers dollars, particularly in the criminal justice system. *Addiction and mental illness are frequently co-occurring and can be successfully managed in addiction programs. *Vocational components, childcare, and employment services are essential for effective treatment. *FADAA agency member staff are competent, well trained professionals who represent the community's diversity.
