“I have reported to Mike or been part of his organization at Microsoft and at Savers in several different roles. Mike is the type of manager I'd seek to work for. In fact, I joined Savers originally because he became CFO there and I wanted to work for him again. One of my first impressions of Mike came when he first took over my group in Microsoft R&D Finance and he introduced himself to the team and talked about his values and how they informed his management style. His words were very authentic and resonated well with me, and over the next few weeks and months, I saw that Mike very much managed by his values. "Walking the talk" is very important for me when it comes to the managers I work for, and Mike does that in spades. This is what makes him a great manager. Mike is very strategic and keenly analytical. I learned a lot from his business perspective as I tend to spend a lot of time in the weeds. At his level, you have to ask the right questions, and Mike does a great job at this. He always seemed to find the one nuance that required further explanation. He seemed to know where further digging was needed. I'm a better finance person for having worked for Mike, and I'd work for him again if given the opportunity.”
