  • Dangle | A Mystery Hockey Player a Day

    Overview:
    Dangle is a guessing game similar to the viral Wordle. In this game, users try to guess a random hockey player, with a new mystery player for them to guess every day. A brand new mode, Dangle Unlimited, was released this July to allow the users to play the game over and over again, all while trying to beat their highest streak of correct answers in a row. Users can view their game statistics (such as average number of guesses), and share their score with their friends or wherever…

    Overview:
    Dangle is a guessing game similar to the viral Wordle. In this game, users try to guess a random hockey player, with a new mystery player for them to guess every day. A brand new mode, Dangle Unlimited, was released this July to allow the users to play the game over and over again, all while trying to beat their highest streak of correct answers in a row. Users can view their game statistics (such as average number of guesses), and share their score with their friends or wherever they like!

    Technology:
    Dangle is built using a React.js front-end. All the styles and designs are made from scratch. The back-end portion, or player database, was brought in via Python. The player data was downloaded or scraped (using the Python BeautifulSoup library) and then cleaned and put into a Pandas DataFrame.

    Audience:
    Dangle is intended for anyone to enjoy, but it is specifically for hockey fans around the World.

    Data:
    Dangle has been used in 93 different countries and has seen over 53,000 total users as of July 27th, 2022. Dangle has even reached around 4,000 users a day during the peak of the NHL Playoffs. All of this growth is through purely organic marketing!
