    Education

Technology Education and Literacy in Schools (TEALS) is a Microsoft Philanthropies program that connects classroom teachers with tech-industry volunteers to create sustainable CS programs. Volunteers support teachers as they learn to teach CS independently over time. I was selected to help bridge the Computer science gap among young people within the nation.

    • Configure Virtual Private Cloud with two subnets, a public subnet and private subnet. Configured the public subnet with a routing table to connect to an Internet gateway. Launch EC2 server instances into the subnet. Configure the private subnet with a local routing table and restricts to resource within private and public subnet. Attached NAT gateway to public subnet to enable private subnet access internet. Create a bastion server in the public subnet to act as “jump box” to securely access private subnet resource via the internet. Configured for Linux and also for Windows.
    • Built a fault tolerate website using CloudFront, ELB, S3 Bucket, Multi AZ EC2 Instances and Multi-AZ RDS.
    • Create and manage Manage storage in AWS. Use AWS CLI to take snapshots of EBS Volume, upload log files to Amazon s3 and configure lifecycle for S3 data to Amazon Glacier.
    • Configure Cloudwatch logs on new Amazon ECS instance, define custom Cloudwatch matrics and update them from instances. Auto-stop an instance using Cloudwatch alarm. Carried out this project for both windows and Linux.
    • Apply tags to existing AWS Resources, find resources based on tags and use aws cli to stop and terminate amazon EC2 instances based on attributes of resource.
    • Create Amazon Machine Image using Amazon Command Line Interface, use auto scaling to scale up the number of task when other servers are experience heavy load.
    • Automate deployments with AWS Cloudformation. Apply edits to existing ClodFormation template, add parameters and mappings to CloudFormation template and troubleshoot problems encountered when developing AWS CloudFormation templates.

  • Rough neigbourhood

    -

Worked in a group of two to propose a methodology for determining which of Balitomre's neighbourhoods a new resident would very likely want to avoid.

Used dataset provided by official government agencies through Open Balitimore Data Beta with Spark Scala technology to achieve this.
