    Moving to a new place can be one of the most disorienting and isolating experiences in a person’s life. Research shows that it takes the average person six to eight years to feel fully integrated into a new community—but that’s far too long. My role as Chief Friendship Officer at the U.S. Chamber of Connection is to accelerate that process, ensuring that newcomers feel welcomed, connected, and supported within their first year of relocating.

    Moving to a new place can be one of the most disorienting and isolating experiences in a person’s life. Research shows that it takes the average person six to eight years to feel fully integrated into a new community—but that’s far too long. My role as Chief Friendship Officer at the U.S. Chamber of Connection is to accelerate that process, ensuring that newcomers feel welcomed, connected, and supported within their first year of relocating.

    Through research, consulting, and program development, I am helping design scalable, research-backed solutions that make it easier for people to form meaningful friendships and social ties faster. Because when newcomers feel connected, it’s not just good for them—it strengthens neighborhoods, workplaces, and the entire local economy.
