Caching
Caching is a technique used to improve the performance of applications. It is often the most significant factor in creating an application that performs well at scale. Popular applications like e-commerce, gaming, and social media rely on caching to deliver high performance. It involves storing copies of data in a temporary storage location known as a cache, so users can access them quickly. When data is stored on storage disks, it is slower to retrieve. With caching, data is stored in fast access hardware such as random-access memory or RAM. Doing so lets you offload read request from your database to the cache, improving performance. In this video, we'll cover the different caching services available with AWS. The most well-known caching service is Amazon ElastiCache. It is a fully managed in-memory cache for your web applications. It improves performance by storing critical pieces of data in memory for fast access.
