From the course: Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) Cert Prep

Introduction

- [Instructor] Data science is a broad term that encompasses everything that allows us to extract knowledge and insights from datasets. What's more, it's getting more popular as I speak. We live in the Information Age, where knowledge can easily be retrieved with a few keystrokes. So let me ask you this. Can you imagine a world without the internet or your favorite search engine? I'm willing to bet that you can't. And the driving force behind this accessible knowledge, data science. Our increasing dependence on data is generating a huge demand for more data science professionals, which might be the reason you're taking this course. That is, you're looking for ways to either advance your career by gaining data science knowledge to get better at what you're already doing or change your career entirely. Among the many ways to accomplish your career goals in data science, obtaining certifications is one of the most effective means to prove your proficiency to potential employers and to eventually allow you to get the job you want. There are many data science certification opportunities out there. It's often necessary for you to make a strategic decision on which option to choose, depending on your individual needs. For example, your work requires a specific certification due to its heavy use of a particular software product. You don't have any choice in this case. However, if possible, a vendor-neutral certification program is an excellent alternative because it's less susceptible to job changes and discontinued solutions. Certified Analytics Professional, or CAP, is one of the few vendor-neutral data science certifications. This course is an introduction to CAP and focuses on giving you an overview of what you need to do to prepare for the CAP exam.
