- According to a poll taken by Fast Company here is where most people have their creative breakthroughs. 29% late at night, 20% in the morning, 13% while exercising, 5% over a cocktail, 2% at office brainstorming sessions, and 2% at the work desk. What's the common element amongst the times when people are the most creative? They are relaxed. Creativity comes from being a more relaxed state when our brains have calmed down and calm is the operative word here. A relaxed, calm brain state is easily measured by brainwaves. The faster the brainwaves, the more agitated are our brains and our thoughts. The slower the brainwave, the more relaxed we are and the more flow there is to our thinking. And with regard to creativity, the slower the brainwaves, the more access we have to original creative thoughts and the more we can also take in new information.
