The dark web
The rise of the dark web and the technologies that have fueled its growth have had widespread implications on organizations and individuals alike. These technologies are neither good nor bad. They're just technologies. It's how we use them that raises ethical questions. The terms surface web, deep web, dark web, and darknet all have very distinct meanings. The surface web is the collection of public web pages that anyone can access, pages that have likely been indexed by your favorite search engine. The surface web is like the tip of the iceberg in every iceberg infographic you've ever seen. And just like the tip of the iceberg, it's only a very small part of the entire thing. I've seen estimates that the surface web only represents about five to 10 percent of the entire Internet. The deep web includes all the other stuff on the Internet that has not been indexed by search engines. If a web resource is protected by a set of user credentials, then that resource is part of the deep web.…
