How to talk about change with your manager
- It can be really uncomfortable talking with your manager about organizational changes, especially if you disagree about them. So how can you discuss your thoughts in a rational, productive manner and even raise objections when you need to? First, a critical starting point is really listening to your boss's perspective. You certainly understand how their point of view affects you, but you may not have full information about all the factors they're dealing with. What pressures are they facing, what issues are they responding to? Changes that may look really strange to you might be in response to an emerging trend that isn't visible yet, but your manager is aware of it because they've been tracking it for a long time. Learn more about what they're reading and studying and which projects or initiatives they're really excited about.
