What to do when you're asked to do things you have no expertise in
- There's something that doesn't get talked about very often when it comes to adapting to change, and that's embarrassment. Frankly, it's embarrassing when we're suddenly asked to do something that we don't know how to do. We've gotten good at our jobs, and most of us take a lot of pride in being successful, competent professionals, and now it feels like here we are back at square one because we have to do a new task or project and we have no idea how to do it. That is really uncomfortable, but unfortunately that's part of change. But the good news is if we're willing to embrace that feeling and that temporary discomfort, we can actually learn a lot because definitionally, you can't learn anything new if you're not willing to try things you haven't done before.
