You’ll be seen as an expert
- You'll be seen as an expert. A strong personal brand paints you as an expert. So even when you leave your current position, you'll still be seen as a leader in your field. Consider an old colleague of mine who's an expert in copywriting. What she did right is that every time she had a win in her industry vertical, she posted about it on LinkedIn and she posted about it and connected it to her area of expertise, which is copywriting. So when she won awards, got featured in press, or even when she got her last promotion, she made sure to tie it to copywriting and that put her as an expert in copywriting and a leader in her area of expertise. Your audience will appreciate your perceived skillset and experience that you bring to the table. How do you share what experience you have? Well, it can be done in a number of ways. Let's begin with thinking about our hard skillset and also, our soft skillset. So, perhaps our hard skillset would be best defined as what are jobs or different roles and skills that you definitely bring to the table. For example, I myself am a writer, a marketer, a creator. You may bring to the table that you are a project manager or engineer. Soft skills that you bring to the table may include that you are innovative, that you are a thought leader, that you are warm and personable, or that you're quite funny. All of these skills are great things to keep in mind and to share, especially when you're up for your next promotion or role. (light upbeat music)
