This will help you visualize what's in your control and the relationships to consider. One of the best tools to examine root causes is the Iceberg Model, a popular systems thinking technique that guides you to view the patterns, structures, and then mental models underneath discrete events or problems. The event is the simplest, most surface-level description of what's currently happening. For example, you might notice that sales have dropped this year. To understand the causes, first look for trends and patterns connected to the event over time.
