- [Instructor] The bulk import function is a quick way to get data into JIRA. Use it when you need to import many similar issues like test cases, recurring issues like tasks for quarterly audits or data from another application or another JIRA environment. I once helped a company import 14,000 records to JIRA from an internally developed issue tracker. The project took about 24 hours of work to complete. The hard part wasn't the import itself, it was translating the existing data into a format JIRA could understand. As a reminder, you can quickly create sample data in all environments. See the instructions in the how to create a project section of my basic JIRA administration course. As always, before you make any big changes in JIRA, you should back up your data first.
