- [Instructor] Let's talk about sharpening and a little about noise reduction in Lightroom. You don't have to reduce noise or sharpen every single photo, but many photographers do like to do this to photos they're going to export, particularly if they think they might print those photos. In Lightroom, sharpening and noise reduction are done in the detail panel. To open the detail panel, make sure your edit controls are activated, and then go down to detail and click the arrow to the left of it. Before you start sharpening or reducing noise you want to be zoomed into 100% view because that's the only way you can truly evaluate sharpness. Just clicking on the image will usually take you to 100% view, and you can check that by looking down here and seeing if the zoom menu is set to 100%.
