Understand Azure Monitor
Everything up until this point in the chapter was centered around management. Now let's see how to monitor your environment. Making sure everything is running as expected and proactively responding to events before they escalate. The first such tool on the list is Azure Monitor. This is a comprehensive monitoring solution. Organizations can leverage it to monitor resources in Azure, on-premises, and even multi-cloud environments. You can monitor resources like applications, virtual machines, operating systems and then containers or networking events, databases, security events, and even custom events of your own. Azure Monitor's core job is to collect, aggregate, analyze, and respond to data pertaining to the availability and performance of your applications and services. This data, by default, is stored in the Azure Monitor logs. If you wish, you can then route this collected data to a service called Log Analytics workspace for further inspection.
