Convert semi-structured data to a table
- [Narrator] In this sub-lesson, we're going to convert semi-structured data to a table. And to do this we're going to use some functions, in particular Use First Rows Headers, Split Column and Fill. So let's go ahead and take a look how to convert this semi-structured data into a table. First off, I want to show you the characteristics of the data in this Excel file that make it unstructured. We can see here in this file, I've got a report name, a report date, and there's no real structure to this. There's a little bit of structure down here, but the file as a whole is semi-structured in nature. What I really want to be able to get at in Power Query is this data rate here. So I'm going to go ahead and import this over in the Power Query Editor and clean it up. Some things to note here is that 2011 only shows up once and does not repeat itself all the way down to December, nor does 2012 show up all the way through the months here, assume that this is the start of 2012 and everything…
