- [Instructor] Did you know that images aren't just for people who can see? Thanks to assistive devices like screen readers, blind people can experience images the way sighted people do if you make your images accessible. Why do we use images on our websites or in our design? Let's look at an article on the BBC website to explain. This is an article about Danish footballer, Christian Eriksen's touching reunion with his old football club. As I scroll down, we can see that the imagery shows that this was a touching experience. It's also conveyed in the text, giving me the option of looking at the images or the text or both. We want to give that same option to people who can't see. So how do people who can't see, see images? Well, they use a screen reader which is software that works closely with their devices operating system to help them use computers, smartphones without sight.
