Recently, I worked with a team going through a restructure. They were grappling with something I've seen in my work time and time again. When a team's routine changes, people feel less able to disconnect from work. Without previously accepted parameters and norms, people subconsciously overcompensate with their time and energy. This was really obvious during the pandemic, where the boundary between work and home became so blurred that many of us just literally didn't know when to stop. I worked with this team on a number of things to help them through this transition, including individual reflection on working style, preferences, and boundaries, as we discussed in a previous video. But there's one idea in particular that I'd like to share here. I think it's a great example of how when we work on teams, we can provide mutual resource through a demanding time.
