- [Instructor] If you're completely new to quality and looking to snare an entry-level position, there are a number of ways to get yourself in the door. Here are a few strategies to help you prepare for a career in quality. Begin by developing expertise in an area that interests you. Whatever you're thinking about testing, start to build a core knowledge of that industry. If you're into video games, don't just play them. Learn how they're built, who the key players are, and what core technologies they use to operate. This applies across any industry. Test managers are looking for people who understand the product. Next, volunteer to do product testing. Opportunities like beta testing, usability testing, or market research are unpaid gigs, but provide exposure to actual product testing.
