- Let's briefly cover the general concepts and skills you should have before we begin, and if you don't have them yet, no worries. Feel free to pause and quickly brush up on them before moving on. First, you should have basic financial literacy which is the ability to understand and use financial skills including personal financial management, budgeting, and investing. This course is intended for current or aspiring finance professionals, so these basic finance skills are assumed. Next, you should know the basic definition of data. For the purposes of this course, data is information that has been translated into a form that can be easily processed or moved by modern computing.
