- Once the file's done merging, or even while it's finishing merging, you can start to adjust the DNG file to better expose it. Let's take a look here at this image. What I'm going to do is attempt to get a better overall exposure. Let's play with lifting the shadows a bit here and start to bring out that foreground. It's looking better. I'm going to lift the overall exposure and recover some highlights. There we go. Now we're starting to see the night sky very well, but also the people in the foreground and the rest of the capitol. From the top, I'm going to take the graduated filter here and drag down. This just lets me put a little bit of a dip in the exposure on the sky and cool that down a little bit for a nice, rich, blue night sky. Let's play with that there.
