Adding music and effects with the TikTok app
- Once we got the video tightened up, we could actually enhance it with some extra effects and filters. Let's start by adding a global filter to the video to give it a bit of a color or a mood. You'll see a bunch of options here, portrait, landscape, food, vibe. Each of these just gives you a different look or style, and you can quickly tap and go through them. Feel free to kind of browse and find one that you like. I like this fresh one in fact. - I'm so happy to eat that. We are making some of everybody's favorite breakfast foods. Let's make some pancakes. - With the slider here, we can adjust the intensity of the filter. That looks pretty good. Let's go into sound and we'll do a search. TikTok offers a huge music library. Just keep in mind that most of this music is copyrighted. Now, TikTok has taken care of the proper licensing and they've cut deals with the different record labels. There might be an ad that pops up or maybe it's good for the artists to get promotion. But if you're going to be using these for your business, that opens up some other options too. So you might end up adding music later in another program but all in all, we're okay here. I can do a simple search and do something like royalty-free and tap that in and look for royalty-free music. In this case, it's not truly royalty free. There's just somebody who's indicating that they're okay with you accessing it that way. There are filters and other options. You can search in different areas. If you find something you like, just tap the bookmark and it's going to be added to your favorites. That works out very nicely because now we can see our favorites and audition them. Now I'll just tap. (upbeat music) - We are making some of everybody's favorite breakfast. Let's make some pancakes. - [Instructor] We can try different choices here. - We are making some of everybody's favorite breakfast foods. Let's make some pancakes. (different upbeat music) - Everybody's favorite breakfast foods Let's make some pancakes. - [Instructor] What we can do now is adjust the mix. We'll lower the added sound and bring up the original sound, a little That's working nicely. Good, we could tap the screen now and explore our effects. Now effects are going to change the video. This is beyond the filters, which were global. These are effects that we could add to change how the clip looks, adding camera shake, overlays, transitions, and they work a bit interactively. So here we see visual effects, transitions, split screen, time and more. Let's add a little zoom here, for example, and you see that if we press and hold, - Everybody - [Instructor] it adds that effect to the beginning of the clip. - breakfast foods. Let's make some pancakes. - [Instructor] If we change our mind, we could just use the undo button to go back. - We are making some of everybody's favorite breakfast foods. Let's make some pancakes. We are making some of everybody's favorite breakfast foods. Let's make some pancakes. We are making some of everybody's favorite breakfast foods. We are making some of everybody's favorite breakfast foods. Let's make some pancakes. [Instructor] And notice what I can do here is adjust the duration of the effect by dragging the handles. - [Video Instructor] We are making some of everybody's favorite breakfast foods. Let's make some pancakes. [Instructor] Now, what I want to do is go to transitions. And we can go right back. to about that edit point. Let's do a scrolling transition. And you see there it added it to the shot. (upbeat music) Put a little transition there between the two clips. And I liked the rotate there to match the whisk motion. Now the traditional video editor me knows that a transition on every shot is a bit much, but it actually matches the platform nicely. If you want to add emphasis, instead of transitions, you can go to effects or visual, and let's apply a zoom here. I'll tap and hold and you'll see it applies for as long as I press. I like that there, it created just a little pop between the clips. We'll keep going. (upbeat music) And let's put a little shake there on the pancake like that. That's good. A little shake transition to go from the griddle to the plate. And let's put one in between there. We'll go back to split here. And just use that as a little visual style transition. And then add one right to the end as we go to our final soundbite. And I'll tap it multiple times. - I'm so happy to eat that. All right, let's take a look from the top and see what else we need. - We are making some of everybody's favorite breakfast foods. Let's make some pancakes. (upbeat music) - [Instructor] I like that. We just need a little pop there on that water splash to take us out. Let's go with slip. I like that there. Now all that's really left is if we want to add text or stickers to give people some extra information. I'm just going to put a simple intro title on this. Let's go to the text engine. See we could easily change options, and we can even add some simple effects. We can make the words different colors to position it, drag it on the screen. Let's go back in and edit that so it's a little easier to see. We'll go with a blue text. There we go. - I'm so happy to eat that. - [Instructor] I like it there. - We are making some of everybody's favorite breakfast foods. - [Instructor] And what we could do is adjust the duration. This way we decide how long the text is up. So I'm going to leave it up for the first six seconds or so, and we could tap to apply it. Now that's looking pretty good. We'll just tap next. And it moves us to the publishing stage. Let's go over that next.
