4ocean Foundation’s Post

In just a few hours, local crews recovered 1,900 pounds of trash from a single canal in Sawah Gede, Jembrana.  When rains pushed waste past the river boom, it threatened to clog irrigation canals that feed local rice fields. Without action, that plastic would have flooded farmland, choked waterways, and flowed straight into the ocean. So, crews stepped in: 🌾 Clearing canals that sustain farmers’ crops 🌊 Stopping trash before it reaches the Ijo Gading River 🐟 Preventing plastic from shredding into harmful microplastics By the end, the canal was flowing freely again, safer for the land, the people, and the ecosystems it supports. Approximately 80% of ocean plastic originates from land-based waste, so restoring rivers and canals helps protect the sea. Be part of the solution.
