FMCSA is now capturing fraud complaints against brokers in its National Consumer Complaint Database. On top of that, registration requirements are tightening: facial scans, verifiable IDs, and traceable physical addresses are now mandatory ✅ These changes make it harder for opportunists to enter the market and close some long-standing loopholes. But they also highlight a reality: government rules take time to design and enforce, while fraud schemes evolve overnight. This puts brokers front and center. Sitting between shippers and carriers, brokers have the power to filter out risk or let it pass through—their choices directly impact the safety and reliability of the supply chain. 💡Compliance is just the baseline. Vigilance, due diligence, and smart partner selection remain the frontline defense against fraud. #Logistics #Freight #SupplyChain #FreightFraud

🚨 Freight Fraud: Our Industry’s Growing Concern 🚨 Freight fraud has quickly become one of the most pressing issues in transportation and logistics. From identity theft and double brokering to fictitious pickups, the impact on carriers, brokers, and shippers is no longer just financial—it's eroding trust across the entire supply chain. That’s why the recent FMCSA announcement to phase out MC numbers in favor of a single, unified USDOT number system is a welcome and timely move. ✅ Why does this matter? 👉 Simplifying identification under a single DOT# helps reduce confusion and duplicate records. 👉 It streamlines verification, making it harder for bad actors to impersonate legitimate carriers or brokers. 👉 A unified system lays the groundwork for more transparent and efficient vetting tools across the industry. This is a step forward in protecting not just businesses—but relationships. And in freight, trust is everything. If you're looking for a partner who takes compliance seriously, prioritizes transparency, and stays ahead of industry changes—you’re in the right place. Let’s move freight the right way. 📧 abarney@exp-logistics.com 📞 515-468-6466 #FreightFraud #Logistics #FMCSA #Transportation #SupplyChainIntegrity #CarrierCompliance #Trucking #TrustMatters

Highway’s Q2 Freight Fraud Index recorded 847,000 fraudulent attempts blocked by mid-year, equal to 92 percent of last year’s total in just six months. The Highway integration inside Port TMS verifies carrier and contact identity before a load ever moves, even if the carrier is already onboarded. As Q4 brings more freight and more pressure, don’t let urgency open the door to risk. Full Report: https://lnkd.in/gH7DzMr7

Federal regulators are rolling out upgrades to the National Consumer Complaint Database (NCCDB) to improve response times and expand its scope, with a specific focus on tackling broker fraud. The NCCDB, which receives 25,000–30,000 complaints annually, has been the Department of Transportation’s primary portal for reporting violations tied to safety, fraud, and household goods moves. The overhaul will streamline the filing and response process while, for the first time, allowing complaints against property brokers. Examples of new reporting categories include brokers misrepresenting operations, working under unauthorized names, operating without proper authority or insurance, or failing to maintain required records.Federal regulators are rolling out upgrades to the National Consumer Complaint Database (NCCDB) to improve response times and expand its scope, with a specific focus on tackling broker fraud. #Transport #Freight #SupplyChain #Warehouse #Import #Export #Business

Think Your Freight Is Safe Just Because the Truck Showed Up on Time? Keeping a shipment compliant and secure is more time consuming than one may think. There are constantly changing regulations to navigate, driver qualifications to verify, and fraud prevention measures to protect your business. Overlooking any of these areas can lead to delays, financial losses, or liability issues, and the problems often only become visible after it is too late. As a freight broker, I make sure these three critical areas are handled for every shipment. I ensure that carriers meet all federal and state regulations, confirm that every driver has the proper credentials and training, and implement fraud prevention measures to protect you from scams, overbilling, or fraudulent activity. This is the difference between a smooth delivery and a supply chain headache. Beyond just checking boxes, compliance impacts your business in real ways. When all three elements are managed correctly, your freight moves reliably, your risk of claims or fraud drops, and you can plan operations without the fear of last-minute surprises. It is not just paperwork, it is protecting your bottom line. Focusing on regulations, driver qualifications, and fraud prevention shows how much value a knowledgeable broker brings. These three pillars keep your freight moving safely, efficiently, and legally. They are often the unseen reason why some shipments succeed while others run into trouble. If you ever find yourself stuck or need a second opinion, please do not hesitate to reach out. I have lived and breathed logistics day and night for thirteen years, and I am happy to help whether you are a client or not. Making sure your freight is handled right is what I do best. #Logistics #SupplyChain #Freight #Trucking #Transportation #Compliance #FraudPrevention #DriverQualifications #Shipping #LogisticsManagement #FreightBroker #SupplyChainManagement #LogisticsSolutions #TransportationManagement #SupplyChainOptimization
