EYE-C programme empowers young women in Uganda's coffee industry

As we celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child, the Empowering Young Women Entrepreneurs in Agriculture Stimulated by Coffee (EYE-C) programme reaffirms its commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young women and girls in Uganda’s coffee value chain. Implemented by aBi Development, Cafe Africa Uganda and the IWCA Uganda, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, the programme seeks to empower 300,000 young women to access decent work and thrive through coffee, as farmers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and change-makers. While implementation teams are still preparing to enter the field, this moment offers an important reminder of why we do what we do: to build a future where every girl has the skills, confidence, and opportunity to succeed. Through skills development, financial inclusion, market access, and gender-responsive approaches, EYE-C will unlock the potential of Uganda’s young women, advancing equality, sustainability, and prosperity for all.
