Highway’s Q2 Freight Fraud Index recorded 847,000 fraudulent attempts blocked by mid-year, equal to 92 percent of last year’s total in just six months. The Highway integration inside Port TMS verifies carrier and contact identity before a load ever moves, even if the carrier is already onboarded. As Q4 brings more freight and more pressure, don’t let urgency open the door to risk. Full Report: https://lnkd.in/gH7DzMr7

Freight fraud is evolving—and so should your defenses. In an industry where speed and trust are everything, freight brokers can’t afford blind spots. Yet many still rely on fragmented systems that leave them vulnerable to increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes. That’s where network effects come in. When platforms are connected—sharing data, validating transactions, and learning from every interaction—they become exponentially more powerful. Every broker, carrier, and transaction strengthens the system. That’s the magic of network effects. In our latest blog, we break down how network effects are reshaping fraud prevention for freight brokers—and why a unified platform is your best defense. 👉 Swipe through the carousel to learn more. Freight fraud is exploding. Cargo theft jumped 27% in 2024, with average losses topping $200K. Strategic thefts alone are up 1,500% since 2021 and rising fast, but FMCSA is fighting back. https://ow.ly/1MiT50XaB7S

FreightWaves just spotlighted how fraud and double brokering are putting brokers under the microscope. One major enabler is the lack of control or visibility over which carriers actually move freight. That’s why so many brokerages come to Cargo Chief. They want more control over carrier reuse, to work with the partners they trust, cut out the noise, and reduce exposure to fraud. That means: 🏋♂️ Stronger carrier relationships 🦉 Less risk from bad actors 💫 Better service and margin protection Fraud isn’t solved overnight, but control is a big step forward. EVERY BROKER LIES ABOUT THEIR CARRIER COUNT! 🚩 "We work with 10,000+ carriers!" Sure. But how many can actually book a load right now? Maybe 15-20%. Having carriers in your system and having carriers approved to haul freight are two different things. When a shipper needs capacity today, that massive network instantly shrinks to whoever's pre-approved. Everyone else is locked out by friction. Brokers can't wait for verification, so they use the same approved carriers every time. The fraud prevention tools create a two-tier system: those who can book immediately, and everyone else perpetually proving they're legitimate. If 80% of your "carrier partners" can't book without jumping through hoops, you don't have a 10,000-carrier network. You have a 2,000 carrier network and an 8,000-carrier waitlist.

🚨 Freight Fraud: Our Industry’s Growing Concern 🚨 Freight fraud has quickly become one of the most pressing issues in transportation and logistics. From identity theft and double brokering to fictitious pickups, the impact on carriers, brokers, and shippers is no longer just financial—it's eroding trust across the entire supply chain. That’s why the recent FMCSA announcement to phase out MC numbers in favor of a single, unified USDOT number system is a welcome and timely move. ✅ Why does this matter? 👉 Simplifying identification under a single DOT# helps reduce confusion and duplicate records. 👉 It streamlines verification, making it harder for bad actors to impersonate legitimate carriers or brokers. 👉 A unified system lays the groundwork for more transparent and efficient vetting tools across the industry. This is a step forward in protecting not just businesses—but relationships. And in freight, trust is everything. If you're looking for a partner who takes compliance seriously, prioritizes transparency, and stays ahead of industry changes—you’re in the right place. Let’s move freight the right way. 📧 abarney@exp-logistics.com 📞 515-468-6466 #FreightFraud #Logistics #FMCSA #Transportation #SupplyChainIntegrity #CarrierCompliance #Trucking #TrustMatters

Protecting America's Supply Chain From Cargo Theft-Request for Information Cargo theft has become one of the fastest-growing threats to U.S. freight resilience, costing billions annually and putting at risk the hard-working Americans who keep goods moving. As part of my current work advancing freight-security policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation, I’m proud to have contributed to the development of the Request for Information (RFI) now open for public comment. This marks a critical step toward building smarter, faster, and more secure systems across every mode of transportation. DOT is inviting input from carriers, logistics operators, insurers, and law enforcement to shape the next phase of national strategy. https://lnkd.in/gEyYBJrD

The U.S. Department of Transportation has issued an information request to address the sharp rise in cargo theft and fraud that is disrupting supply chains and driving up costs. Published under the title “Protecting America’s Supply Chain from Cargo Theft,” the notice highlights fragmented reporting and limited national visibility, calling for stronger coordination between law enforcement, industry, and federal partners. The U.S. Department of Transportation cites both “straight thefts,” stolen trailers, containers, or parked trucks, and “strategic theft networks” involving fraudulent carriers, cyber-enabled thefts, and insider collusion. CargoNet reports cargo theft spiked by more than 90% from 2021 to 2024, with the average cost of a stolen load exceeding $200,000. Tomorrow, our CEO Zach En'Wezoh will join a panel of industry leaders at the TIA Regional Meeting in Long Beach to discuss fraud and strategic cargo theft. With new government guidelines reinforcing the urgency of this issue, one truth is clear: 🚨 Real-time fraud signaling, driver verification, and credential checks are the only way to break the chain 🚨 At Indemni, we’re building the technology to make this possible - helping brokers, carriers, and shippers transact with confidence and protect America’s supply chains. We’re proud to be part of the conversation. #CargoTheft #FreightFraud #SupplyChainSecurity #TIA #DriverVerification
