From Yale’s classrooms to the world stage. Joel Mokyr ’74 Ph.D., who recently received the Nobel Prize for his pioneering theory of sustained economic growth, credits his time as a Yale graduate student as a “decisive influence” on his career — and one of the best periods of his life: bit.ly/4qaaMnz #Yale
Yale University continues to be a place where bold, curious minds thrive. As Joel Mokyr writes, “To continue growing, societies must foster a ‘culture of change’ characterized by openness to new ideas and experimentation and a tolerance to change that disrupts existing structures.” That mindset deeply resonated with me during my time there where intellectual freedom, open debate, and interdisciplinary thinking were part of everyday life. It’s no surprise that this environment has helped shape four Nobel laureates in economics (last 4 year) and continues to inspire scholars who push the boundaries of knowledge.

Congratulations Dr Joel Mokyr...indeed a memorable time as a Yale student and receiving the Nobel Prize is a fitting tribute to your sustained hard work
