Just wrapped up an energizing few days at the Global Cybersecurity Forum Annual Meeting in Riyadh. It was inspiring to see the Centre for Cyber Economics come to life – a timely initiative that underscores how deeply intertwined cybersecurity and the global economy have become. Recent incidents — whether in the automotive sector, aviation, or even in society (such as the hacking of data from nurseries) — are a clear reminder that cybersecurity is no longer optional, but an imperative. Some of my key takeaways from the sessions I joined: •The macroeconomic impacts of cybersecurity are no longer abstract— beyond value erosion, it’s important to consider the value cybersecurity can create. •Tackling cyber inequity is essential as cybersecurity is increasingly a public good, essential to safeguard the benefits of digitalisation for all. •Developing robust approaches to measuring cyber resilience is essential. We need “metrics that matter” – and the real challenge is achieving consensus on the critical metrics that can help drive action on cybersecurity. Above all, it was a privilege to connect with friends old and new. Abdurahman M. Al Hassan Alaa AlFaadhel Amine Mcharek Robert M. Lee Mark Hughes Johan Gerber Brett DeWitt Rob D. That point about "tackling cyber inequity" being a public good is so important and often overlooked. As digitalisation accelerates globally, ensuring that small businesses and developing regions aren't left behind in terms of basic cybersecurity is a huge challenge. Great to hear this was a key focus!
Was great to partner and participate with you at the event Akshay, thank you for your leadership and driving this important agenda topic
Akshay Joshi, this discussion is critical, as highlighted below. My requested article, published in the PECB Insight Magazine, aims to help all stakeholders understand how to communicate security compliance and frameworks as business enablers, in addition to demonstrating to the strategic leader why they need to support this venture: not seeing security compliance as a burden, but to create trust and economic value, securing the company vision. https://carisec.global/2025/09/28/translating-frameworks-into-impact-turning-iso-nist-and-soc-2-into-actionable-business-outcomes/

2wLike the characterisation of cybersecurity as a public good. 👍 A non zero intangible — as essential as connectivity itself.
