Reading Forces in 6 Axes ⚙️ Inside this compact body lies a precise structure that measures 3 forces and 3 torques simultaneously. A 6-axis force/torque sensor is more than a load detector— it serves as the sensory organ 🤖 that lets robots interact with their environment. With stable output under repeated loads, low crosstalk, and precise linearity, it always delivers reliable data. ✨ The moment you read invisible forces, new control begins.

Check out our latest work "An MPC framework for efficient navigation of mobile robots in cluttered environments" with Daniel Zhang, Raffaele Soloperto, Andrea Carron, and Melanie Zeilinger: https://lnkd.in/gHCFps6v. We propose an MPC approach that integrates a finite-segment shortest path planner directly into the trajectory optimization. The method guarantees collision avoidance and convergence, even in environments cluttered with obstacles. In hardware experiments, a human operator dynamically set targets, which the robot reached within 2-3 seconds. In fact, it was often faster than we could assign new targets. 🔧 Want to try it yourself? We've open-sourced the code: https://lnkd.in/gYT4Usf8. You can dynamically select targets with a drag-and-drop interface and the algorithm navigates the robot arounds the obstacles in real time. #PredictiveControl #Robotics #ModelPredictiveControl #AutonomousSystems ICS - Intelligent Control Systems NCCR Automation

A remarkable breakthrough in robotics! This work showcases how Model Predictive Control (MPC) can enable mobile robots to navigate cluttered environments efficiently, while ensuring collision avoidance and real-time adaptability. What stands out is the ability of the system to dynamically adjust to new targets within 2–3 seconds—sometimes even faster than a human operator could assign them. Truly an impressive step forward in combining theory and hardware experiments. A great contribution from the team, especially by making the code open-source and available for the community. #Robotics #ModelPredictiveControl #AutonomousSystems #Innovation

Think your robots are doing fine? Think again. Hypertherm’s Robotmaster 2025 redefines multi-robot orchestration with dynamic path optimization, real-time collision avoidance, and smart batching. It’s like giving your welders a PhD in coordination. Better throughput, fewer errors, no more “mine’s faster” debates on the line. No, it won’t make coffee. Yet. Ready to see your bots behave? A Small Difference in Pick & Place 📦 Pick, move, repeat — such a simple process. But is a 6-axis force/torque sensor really necessary here? 🤔 At first glance it seems straightforward, yet real-world operations are full of variables: ✔️ Products shifting slightly in position ✔️ Subtle changes in weight or surface conditions ✔️ Small errors accumulating over repeated cycles A 6-axis sensor detects these differences, allowing robots to instantly correct unexpected situations and maintain stable, consistent performance in repetitive tasks. The moment you read invisible forces, automation becomes more precise.
