On Sunday, the meetup From Innovation to Internationalization — Digital Opportunities for Businesses, held in Lviv, served as a powerful catalyst for Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises seeking digital modernization and expansion into European markets 🙌🏻 Industry experts explored in detail how technology can transform business processes — from logistics to retail — strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of Ukrainian companies. One of the theme was the use of innovative platforms. The Sustainable Transport & Trade Matchmaking Platform was presented as a reliable tool for finding vetted partners in trade, logistics, and innovation across Europe and Asia. The platform fosters trusted business relationships while ensuring compliance with EU regulatory standards. Particular attention was given to the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) and their services aimed at driving digitalization in both the private and public sectors. When collaboration becomes the growth engine Over the past couple of days at GITEX Global 2025, Pakistan and the UAE inked a fresh agreement to deepen cooperation in AI, digital governance, and data innovation.  Arab News This matters deeply because it signals a shift from isolated national strategies toward cross-border digital ecosystems. It's not just about technology; it's about trust, policy alignment, and shared infrastructure. But this optimism comes with urgency: Pakistan’s trade figures for September show exports falling ~12% while imports jumped ~14%, pushing the trade deficit toward USD 3.34 billion.  @mathrubhumi Here are a few reflections for stakeholders in tech / digital / policy: Strategic diplomacy is now tech diplomacy Innovation is rarely national in isolation. The UAE–Pakistan move shows that mutual digital standards, data flows, and AI R&D can be major levers for growth. Tech gains must be anchored in economic resilience Rising exports in IT are fantastic but if macro imbalances widen (imports > exports), gains may be fragile. Sustainable growth requires coupling tech with export-oriented policies, incentives, and infrastructure. Data & governance frameworks are the bridge builders Interoperability, shared data protocols, trust models, privacy standards these are what determine whether bilateral tech agreements can scale meaningfully. Talent & startup ecosystems must be global-ready In a connected world, a Pakistani startup should feel as natural entering UAE markets (or vice versa) as entering their own. That means regulatory clarity, ease of cross-border operations, funding linkages. Call to Action If you’re in tech or policymaking, ask: how can your project or team align with regional collaboration? Last week I had the opportunity alongside my VGTI SEA - Victorian Government Trade and Investment Southeast Asia colleagues to lead a delegation of fifteen Victorian companies to Big Data & AI World Asia 2025 as part of Tech Week Singapore 2025. The mission commenced with a curated Industry Day on 7 October that included. 🌏 Presentation from The Economist on ASEAN Trends 💻Deep dive into the regions digital landscape and how to build a go to market strategy by AIBP. 🥪 Working lunch at MyRepublic with industry leaders from A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, IMDA, AiSP (Association of Information Security Professionals), CyberSG TIG Collaboration Centre, Johor Corporation, Standard Chartered, ST Engineering, Fujitsu, Crayon and Genedant Capital. 🧠 Site visit and partnership exploration to NCS Group including an introduction to their Tesseract and Intelligentisation House Strategy and an introduction to the AI Verify Foundation by IMDA. 🇦🇺 Tech Leaders Networking Reception at the Australian High Commission led by Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and Tech Council of Australia.
