Why embed engineers in the finance team? Daniel Ahremark, CFO at Mews, had a simple answer: Scaling a company means scaling finance. And you don’t scale finance by adding headcount, you scale it by building systems. It started as an experiment. Not just hiring engineers for finance, but placing them inside the team. It rhymes with legal as well. Accounting, finance, legal, backoffice in general - was ripe for next level of efficiency 3-5 years ago, but there were neither in-house engineers spending time on contracts flow improvements, nor new players interested in the space. Hopefully we are seeing a tipping point now.
