This week, Svenska Dagbladet highlights Trioworld's collaboration with emergency hospitals in Stockholm, Sweden. Back in 2021, the effects of the pandemic called for new innovative and sustainable solutions. To this day, the partnership remains strong and the recyclable apron production continues. The emergency hospitals in Region Stockholm use over eleven million protective aprons each year. A desperate attempt to find plastic aprons during the pandemic led to an initiative that now aims to recycle a large portion of them. “Healthcare accounts for 5 percent of climate impact in the Western world, and single-use plastic items are among the biggest producers of all carbon dioxide,” says Johanna Albert, senior physician at Danderyd Hospital. Since then, the company has been supplying plastic aprons that are disposed of in special waste bags, transported to a facility in Småland, washed, shredded, and melted down to become new aprons.
