Chief Information Security Officer • Aspiring golfer • Happy to advise/mentor

After 38 years at Principal Financial Group, 17 of those years as Chief Information Security Officer, I’ve made the decision to retire at the end of May. It was not an easy decision for me, because this role and company has been such an important part of my life, shaping me both personally and professionally. And it's been a lot of fun! I’m humbled by the incredible people I’ve had the privilege to work with — colleagues, mentors, mentees and friends. I’ve learned so much from each of you, and it’s been an honor to share what I’ve learned with others, particularly the next generation of women in cybersecurity. Helping to mentor, guide, and connect others has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my journey. As I transition to the next chapter, I feel immense gratitude for the experiences and opportunities I’ve had, but most of all, for the relationships I’ve built. While I’ll no longer be in the day-to-day of cybersecurity, I’ll continue to be an advocate for the people who make this field so special — and I look forward to seeing the amazing things you all will continue to accomplish. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. I’m excited to see what the future holds for all of us. #Gratitude #CyberSecurity #WomenInTech #Leadership #Mentorship #Retirement #NewBeginnings #TheUniverseNeedsCybersecurity

17 years as CISO, wow that’s a load of zero-days! Well congrats to you, time to worry less and enjoy life more. You have left Principal in great cyber-shape and should be proud of your legacy!

I have mixed feelings about this. BUT hope you enjoy the next chapter even more than the last one! Will miss having you around. Congrats, Meg!
