We made it! Around 1 pm on October 18, my group and I made it to Everest Base Camp (that’s us crouched under the stone). This was probably one of the hardest physical endeavours I’ve ever under taken. But I am so proud of myself and my team. We decided up front that failure was not an option and we saw it through. The last couple of days involved numerous steep ascents and descents, sometimes hopping over large rocks and sometimes scrambling over loose gravel (the ascents with 50% oxygen caught me out of breath after every few steps but the descents were brutal on my knees). There were parts of the trek was over large flat plains that were covered with snow, and surrounded by snow covered peaks. It looked like we were in a scene from Lord of the Rings but thankfully no Gollum or Sauron but lots of Yak-trains that take up the whole trekking path. A massive thank you to everyone supporting my fundraiser for Doctors Without Borders! The progress we've made is incredible, but there's still a way to go. Your donation helps fund lifesaving medical care for people caught in conflict and crisis. Please consider contributing to my "Climb for Humanity" through the link below. https://lnkd.in/gMv2NyRv I’ll be back in Sydney by Friday. Thank you for letting me bring you on this epic journey.
