Babak Behsaz’s Post

After 8+ years at Google, I decided to move on to new challenges and follow my fascination with genetics in a new direction in a biotech startup. I joined Exai Bio this week and am thrilled to be part of their talented and committed team. Exai Bio works on early and accurate detection of cancer using machine learning in their RNA-based liquid biopsy platform. Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally and its early detection can drastically improve the prognosis and quality of life for patients and their loved ones. I am excited to be working on a technology that has the potential to make a real difference in the lives of so many people. Startups statistically have a tiny chance of success, but this cause is important enough that it's worth the risk. I have fond memories of my time at Google. I enjoyed working on a variety of fascinating ML-related projects in question answering and genomic medicine. I had the opportunity to work with some great colleagues, I will miss them, and I hope my path crosses with them again.
