Safe lifting requires careful planning, proper equipment inspection, and strict attention to procedures. Every member of the crew must understand their role and follow established safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries. >>Before Lifting: *Conduct a thorough inspection of the crane and all lifting equipment at the start of each shift. *Confirm the load weight and ensure it does not exceed the crane’s rated capacity. *Check ground conditions to verify stability and ensure outriggers are properly deployed. *Develop a comprehensive lifting plan, detailing the method, equipment, and personnel involved. *Designate a qualified signal person to direct operations and ensure coordination. >>During Lifting: *Follow standard hand and voice signals throughout the lift. *Keep all workers clear of the load path to avoid potential hazards. Perform lifts slowly and smoothly to prevent the load from swinging or shifting. *Maintain constant communication between the operator, signal person, and ground crew. >>Avoid Common Mistakes: *Never operate a crane or lifting device without completing a pre-use inspection. *Do not lift loads that are unbalanced or improperly secured. *Avoid working under adverse weather conditions that may affect visibility or stability. *Never allow unauthorized personnel near the lifting zone. *Effective lifting and crane safety depend on preparation, awareness, and teamwork. *When every step is planned and executed carefully, the risk of accidents can be greatly reduced.
