A new landmark has been approved for the heart of Broadbeach. The Sandpiper site is set to be transformed into 155 OBR, a fifty-two storey residential tower, an elegant form inspired by the gentle contours of the Gold Coast.   The tower’s architecture is contemporary and timeless, defined by soft, flowing edges, a glazed façade, and integrated sun-shading that responds to the subtropical climate. Expansive balconies extend the interiors outdoors, capturing light, breezes, and sweeping views of the coastline and parklands.   At street level, a landscaped forecourt and welcoming lobby create a refined arrival experience, while subtropical planting softens the tower’s edges and connects it to the surrounding precinct.   Congratulations to Polycell and the project team on achieving approval, a significant milestone for a sculptural addition that will enrich Broadbeach’s skyline with a thoughtfully crafted urban presence.   Architecture by BDA Developer, Polycell Visualisation, Response Image Project Manager, Eastview (Australia) Civil & Structural, ADG Engineers Services, EMF Griffiths Landscape, LDG Landscape Architecture Fire, Spectra Fire Engineers Building Certifier, Dix Gardner Pty Ltd Environmental, MRA Environmental Surveyor, Bennett + Bennett Acoustics, Acoustic Works #architecture #urbanplanning #propertydevelopment #residentialdesign #cityshaping #designexcellence #placemaking

Love how the tower translates the Gold Coast’s “soft, flowing” language into terraces that act like green surf breaks. The glazed façade and climate-tuned sun-shading will give gorgeous, legible rhythms across the day—those deep balconies will paint long subtropical shadows. As a 3d senior archviz lead, I can already see the dusk sequence: warm lobby glow, breeze in the planters, and a slow fly-up revealing that layered garden edge to skyline. Beautiful work, BDA and team.
