On the road again: our Hackathon Tour keeps gowing ! Earlier this year, we kicked off an internal Hackathon Tour across our main Tech hubs. Since the summer break, the tour has already passed through Lyon and Nantes and we’re now getting ready for Nice and Warsaw. And to give you a glimpse of the atmosphere, here’s the video from our Nantes edition 🎬 Each city brings its own energy, its own way of mixing tech and GenAI to bring ideas to life. Same framework but completely different outcomes every time and that’s the power of these hackathons. This weekend I'm participating as a mentor for INIT FIU ShellHacks 2025 Hackathon (Florida's Largest Hackathon) at Florida International University. As I'm working with the teams, I'm trying to transfer a few key lessons. They're not groundbreaking, but they are fundamental truths we sometimes forget in the heat of building: You cannot ChatGPT/Claude your way through Product Development. These tools are phenomenal accelerators for code and ideas, but they can't replace the critical thinking required to solve a real user problem from end-to-end. Customer focus is a team sport. As skilled as an engineering team can be (with or without AI), it's crucial for BOTH Product and Engineering to always think about the customer. A great product won't "work itself out" without a shared obsession over who you're building for. In a small team (< 5), an Engineering Manager and a Product Manager look very similar. Both roles are ultimately about unblocking the team, prioritizing, and ensuring everyone is building the right thing, fast. The speed of innovation is insane. The kind of high-fidelity, functional prototypes you can now build over a weekend are exponentially better than just one year ago when I also participated. The bar for a hackathon MVP has been raised permanently. Huge props to all the students hacking away this weekend. Can't wait to see the final demos!

The Polkadot Builder Party begins on October 6, 2025. At the Web3 Foundation, we support the development of open, permissionless technologies that serve users around the world. As part of this mission, we are supporting the Builder Party, a global event designed to introduce new developers to the Polkadot ecosystem. The Builder Party is a six-week event that combines a global online hackathon, community meetups, and a collaborative campaign. Participants will focus on building practical, open applications that showcase the capabilities of Polkadot 2.0, parachains, and the broader ecosystem. Over six weeks, builders will take part in: - A Global Online Hackathon - Local Meetups allowing builders to connect, collaborate, and share progress - A Community Campaign showcasing innovation across Polkadot 2.0, parachains, and the broader ecosystem The final week aligns with Sub0 in Buenos Aires, connecting online and in-person participants. In my 2nd hackathon video I talked about SPEED - how hackathons force rapid learning and accelerate real progress. But here’s the other half of the truth: 🚫 You can’t innovate in isolation. ✅ The biggest breakthroughs happen in connected #ecosystems. When companies collaborate across groups, domains, priorities, expertise, experiences etc problems get solved faster and better than a single team alone. That’s why hackathons work. They don’t just generate ideas - they build partnerships: > Shared capability 🤝👥 > Fresh perspectives 🌱💡 > Open knowledge flow 🌊🧠 > Real working prototypes ⚙️🚗 🚀 That’s exactly what we’re creating with the MLAI + eSafety Commissioner #Hackathon in November, a collaboration to tackle hoaxes, hate and online harm with #responsibleAI. You want to be part of this! So DM me, Alissa or Max Bywaters to discuss sponsorship or partnership involvement. Let’s build something that matters - together! #Ecosystem #Partnerships #Collaboration #MLAI

Hackathons are for testing bold ideas. I didn’t walk away with a trophy this time. Because for me, it was never just about winning. I used this hackathon to build and test the ATAPIC Companion, a Chrome extension that brings GTM right where you work. No more switching tabs. With ATAPIC Companion, you can: • Add leads instantly to your pipeline • Score fit based on their digital footprint • Surface pain points and engagement strategies • Plan sequences without breaking your workflow The extension is just the start. We are now rolling it into ATAPIC to give founders, consultants, and coaches a smarter way to turn attention into revenue. The hackathon was just a proving ground. The real journey starts now. Huge thanks to CharlestonHacks and Doug Hamilton for creating the space to test bold ideas, and to everyone who participated, it was inspiring to build alongside you Jack Teitel Chuks Nwaezeigwe Brian Sullivan Elaine Zehntner Toby Palmer, CEPA® Christopher J Hanson Adedolapo Adekanbi Want early access to ATAPIC Companion? Comment below or DM me and I’ll get you in.
