We are proud to announce Lakewood Elementary's Madison Cundiff and Blue Valley High's Kimberly Thompson as our nominees for the 2027 Kansas Teacher of the Year award! 🏆💙💫 The Kansas State Department of Education award program honors exemplary classroom educators with five or more years of experience who are leaders in improving schools, student performance and the teaching profession. Cundiff, a kindergarten teacher for the Lions, is currently in her seventh year of teaching and has been with the district since 2024. Thompson, a social studies teacher for the Tigers, is currently in her 20th year of teaching and has been in Blue Valley Schools since 2013. The support and excitement during yesterday's surprise announcements was truly heartwarming. Congratulations to our well-deserving honorees! #BVTogether #ChampionsOfLearning
