You mentioned principles of play, right? And I think that is huge because I, I think if players can learn how to play off a principles as opposed to. I know you, you know, to like sets, you know, and like sticking in certain positions. Like are there are certain principles, you know, that you're working on like everyday in practice, like spacing? And can you kind of maybe give a sneak, you know, kind of a little peek into like what that looks like and how you would implement like a principle into one of those small sided games, right? So tempo ball movement, you know, spacing is obviously going to be 1, right? But that's dependent on where we are, right? So for in like a high wing two man game or three man game, right? Like your spacing is going to be dictated on there. This is if you're in our off ball pair or on the other side of the field, right, Whether we're ceiling slipping or you know, just cycle, simply cycling off ball, right? So you know, spacing I think is something. And that we try and work in those small sided games, right? So say. Say we're going to say it's like 44 one side, right. So like, you know, I'm also a big proponent of like that constraints LED approach, right? So putting constraints in where I'm getting what what I want to get out of them without, you know, so putting in a few rules, but not exactly putting the shackles on it, right where they continue to play, right. So say it's 4V41 sided, right. So one thing I did this past spring with arrow, which was really sweet, was that have you have you heard like the battle ship scoring style, right? Yeah, I'm gonna play game to three, but you can score. You have to score on ball. You have to score on an off ball, right, and you have to score like with the nations look or something like that, right. So it's it's really fun to see like they'll get that on ball dodge score, you know, goal pretty quickly. But then it's like, oh, crap, like now we actually have to make decisions and work to either if if it's that off ball, like. You know, it's, it's simple rules of like you're trying to get each other open, right, which is not something it's usually like clear space for the guy, right? But it's, it's just clearing space to clear space, not exactly clearing space to be a threat to score, right. So adding in that constraint has been really fun, you know, and what we do in those drills.

The real problem with travel baseball (and private monetized youth sports teams in general) as I speak from 16 years of experience and watching it evolve: Most people join a team asking, “What can I get out of this?” That mindset is backwards. The real question should be: 👉 “What can I bring to the table every single day?” Teams don’t thrive on selfishness — they thrive on selflessness. You decide how you show up. You decide if you’re a teammate or a taker. At the end of the day, it’s not about trophies, rankings, or going tit-for-tat. It’s about being part of something greater than yourself — whether it’s family, sports, or business. As Philippians 2:3–4 reminds us: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
