Partnering closely with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), we developed a mobile application that enables seamless, 24/7 engagement between HMRC and its customers. Accessibility was a core focus throughout the project. Our dedicated accessibility champions conducted regular assessments during development, driving continuous improvements. This led to the creation of a custom component library designed with accessibility at its heart. From day one, the app included features such as screen reader compatibility and voice-over support. It also followed the Government Digital Service (GDS) design principles, ensuring a consistent and familiar user experience across platforms—right down to naming conventions, structure, and visual design. As a result, the HMRC app is instantly recognizable as an official UK Government digital product, helping users feel confident and secure during their interactions. This project stands as a strong example of how collaborative innovation can lead to inclusive, user-centric solutions that strengthen the connection between government and citizens.
