"Music, like Python, brings us together into a community." - @PyConUS 2014 I'm so happy to be at @PyConUS 2025. Reflecting on my time working with #Python and #Jupyter, I'm sharing my PyCon poster from 11 years ago. Why? I learned many years ago at MIT to view technology through the lens of how it impacts people. I believe good technology serves and empowers people without harming individuals. That's a difficult standard to achieve, and I often find it aspirational on things that we can or do build. Thinking about the people that I've met at PyCon over the years, I'm humbled to watch the growth of individuals, to see how people have empowered new users, and proud to see the impact that once "new" users have on the language, community, and world at large. Whether you are new to PyCon or a seasoned attendee, please stop me and say hello and let me know what you want to create with Python. You never know when a small project will impact someone else's education or everyday life. Learn, build, and share with others - the joy and power of open source.
I love this so much!!
We should chat, Carol, I didn't know you also came to this through music. I produce a community radio show on the side, and, as one does, I'm building Python tools to automate the process, with a special emphasis on making it *more* human and doing things differently from how algorithmic music recommendation usually works.
