You don't need innovation to fight healthcare fraud - just common sense.

Just make it super easy for patients to complain any noticeable fraud happening while undergoing treatment. E.g., Forcing a patient with a dental issue to use a wheelchair solely for the purpose of billing—when there is no actual medical need

Important initiative by CMS. Strengthening health plan identifier (ID) security is a critical step in protecting both providers and patients. Medical Billers and Coders play a vital role in this process by ensuring compliance, reducing vulnerabilities, and supporting innovation in fraud prevention. Looking forward to seeing the impact of these collaborative efforts.

Just go to Minnesota and see how fraud is done....won't take you long. An easy lesson. You can look at housing, substance abuse, managed care....anywhere. They even removed education requirements from management level jobs to make it easier. Their largest Medicaid MCO just became first in nation to completely walk away from MA....and their Medicaid provider portal doesn't work, which they work around by turning off all PAs. 😁

I love this idea! What a great way for like minded individuals to come together and strategize ways to better protect our communities. As a face-to-face licensed health insurance agent with experience in the fields of crime analysis and mental health, there is an overwhelming concern regarding how to better protect and combat fraud in the healthcare industry. I have helped numerous clients report fraud to Medicare and insurance companies, kept up with local FBI initiatives, and even have held trainings with the family members of my clients to help those highly susceptible to fraud better understand the importance of not becoming a victim to individuals that might sound professional on the phone but have the intention of destroying their overall well-being. Great job CMS for taking action!

a BIG thing, is when practitioners DO NOT SEE OR TREAT THE PATIENT,,,because they are so far behind they cannot serve patients in a timely fashion, cancel the appointment,,,THEY STILL BILL MEDICARE AND THE SUPPLEMENT !!! I've caught SEVERAL of my doctors doing that, EYE DOCTORS are the worst, and PHYSICAL THERAPY among others. I've made them pay it all back, and followed up. They HATE me for it. TOO BAD SO SAD FOR THEM !!!
