Cahone Valley's World of Work is recognized nationally as the gold standard for career development, where kids unlock their strengths, interests and values and learn to aim them at the variety of careers not just locally, but nationally and globally. The next phase of World of Work is youth apprenticeship, where students earn high school credit, college credit and income during their high school years. We don't give it a chance that they'll launch after high school. We hand our students to industry while they're with us so that they can develop their interest and skills and income, but also gain. Experience for that next step, and we know if we can help kids launch now, they're going to be on that path for the rest of their lives. This year at Bostonia Global High School, we've partnered with San Diego Automotive Museum and the Associated General Contractors Apprenticeship Program to provide paid opportunities for high school students to dig in with real world learning. Those hiring in the workforce are looking at programs like this to provide pathways directly into their jobs. And whether it's construction, auto, tech or biomedical, banking and finance, they're counting on programs like this because it provides tangible insights about the skills and new hire has, and that's the value of these programs. The reason the AGC is successful is that they show young people a different career path and so they can learn hands on skills to to find a craft that they enjoy doing and make a living at it as a career. So that's a exposing them to what's out there. My career goal is to become a general contractor and I feel like the hands on training that I've gathered from this experience, it's helped me prepare for after high school because these skills are something not everybody knows, especially kids my age. This program is making me more of a well-rounded adult because not only I'm learning the experience of actually being an automotive technician and giving setting the idea for it, but also the paid aspect. I'm getting money in my bank account so I can use it for like maybe college or parts for my vehicles. And also getting taught how to save, even how to invest in all that. I feel like it's such an amazing opportunity to be able to do this. It's one of the reasons why I came to Bostonia because I saw that they had mentorship opportunities available and it was something completely different from what I had been doing in high school. So just being able to do this, being able to go out into actual like careers and seeing how it is, it's like amazing. And I honestly feel like I'm pretty prepared. So I know when I actually go into a job, like I know what's expected of me. I know how to act, I know my schedule and. How to deal with it and everything before this I had absolutely no clue. I just hope students find an inspiration so that way they can, you know, help plan out their future is really the main goal. It's really great to see students grow, especially the confidence and also the eager to learn and know more. Is is definitely really, really fulfilling to see as an individual. There's nothing greater than seeing our students be able to get out into the world and have real experiences where they can envision their success and see themselves on that path to their future. Our Youth apprenticeship program is made possible by the previous foundation. We're grateful not only for their financial gift, but their vision and for their support in developing our community.
