Cityscape Schools is proud to announce Dr. Diana Vega Nunez as the district’s new Chief Schools Officer, bringing over 25 years of experience as a teacher, campus leader, and district executive. She begins her 26th year in education with a deep commitment to academic excellence, equity, and empowering educators. Dr. Nunez has led at every level, from classroom to central office, and believes education and access are powerful levers for social and economic mobility. Her leadership has driven measurable results: in 2022, 14 schools under her guidance earned TEA ratings of one “A,” nine “B’s,” and four “C’s.” She is a four-time Master Principal, a former National Blue Ribbon Schools principal, and was named a Cahn Fellow in 2019. A proud daughter of immigrants and a graduate of Dallas public schools, Dr. Nunez was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and raised in Oak Cliff. Her experience as an emergent bilingual learner continues to fuel her passion for equity, access, and representation. She holds degrees from UNT, SMU, UT Dallas, and UT Austin, where she earned her doctorate in educational leadership. Dr. Nunez is excited to join the Cityscape community and partner with staff and families to ensure every learner is seen, supported, and set up for success.
