You can design the perfect system. You can spend months configuring a portal. You can require your team to use it. And still – your people will just DM each other in Slack. That’s what we saw first-hand while building Wrangle. We started with a “proper” workflow builder with a traditional app and dedicated editor. But the reality struck hard when we saw how teams actually work. 🚫 People didn’t want to swivel their chair, log in somewhere else, and file a request. ✅ They wanted to stay in the flow, where their conversations were already happening. So, we rebuilt everything inside Slack, and something interesting happened: Not only did we just improve the agent experience, but we also improved the requester experience. Because when the workflow lives in Slack: ✓ The work gets tracked. ✓ The steps are actionable. ✓ Nothing slips through the cracks. It’s familiar, it’s faster, and it just works. Agents can now tap into the collective intelligence of an organization—securely—while reducing hallucinations and improving reliability. Imagine assistants that don’t just “answer,” but act on tasks, surface past decisions, and orchestrate workflows… all without leaving Slack. ⚡ This feels like the next stage of AI assistants: from reactive helpers → to trusted, proactive teammates.

Using Slack and wanting a tool to get an insight into your teams movements for the day? Use this daily standup plugin. It’s hard to know what your team are working on each day. You could host a quick meeting but that’s a big draw on resources. We want less meetings, not more. And relying on them remembering to tell you each day? Not happening; they’re busy. Instead try the plugin Geekbot. It’s on the Slack marketplace. It will send a message to each team member at a set time every morning. You configure the questions you want to know answers to. Ask them to take a few minutes each morning to fill it in. These answers all then populate in a public channel you can review. It gives total overview of their tasks for the day and gets you the answers you need. It will take a week to develop the habit for most of them. But once it’s incorporated into their day, your insights will greatly improve. Start gathering data, and do it in a way that saves you time personally. Very much worth a trial run. Especially as it’s free for up to 10 users! I've been using it with a client and it's suuuuuper helpful.

Slack just gave third-party developers access to your company's conversations. Direct access to messages, files, channel data. They're calling it secure because it's "permission-aware." Let me explain why that's not enough. When you authorize an AI agent, it inherits your permissions. Everything you can see... the agent can see. Financial docs, HR threads, strategy discussions. All of it. Now multiply that access by every team member who clicks "authorize" on a new productivity tool. We designed security systems for humans making occasional requests. Open a file, read it, close it. AI agents operate differently → continuous queries, pattern matching across thousands of conversations, synthesizing data at machine speed. The old permission model wasn't built for this. Slack banned training on API data, which is good. But that doesn't solve the access problem. An agent with broad permissions is a massive exposure surface... operating around the clock without human judgment filtering each query. Microsoft Teams and Slack are racing to become the dominant AI work platform. The winner won't be whoever opens access first. It'll be whoever solves permission management for AI agents. Every company building on these platforms needs to think hard about this. You can't bolt privacy onto systems designed for openness. We're asking workplace AI to do more while protecting less.
