Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi leads UAE-PRIME BCI trial with Neuralink

In partnership with the Department of Health Abu Dhabi and Neuralink, we are excited to lead the UAE-PRIME clinical trial, the region’s first brain-computer interface (BCI) study. This trial will evaluate the safety and functionality of Neuralink’s N1 Implant, a fully implantable, wireless device designed to help individuals with severe paralysis and speech impairment control digital devices using only their thoughts, restoring communication, independence, and confidence. Eligible participants include adults over the age of 18 with severe physical disabilities affecting limb movement and speech, such as chronic spinal cord injuries, ALS, stroke-related impairments, or progressive neurodegenerative disorders, who retain full cognitive function. This collaboration reflects Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s global leadership in neuroscience and neurotechnology innovation, and highlights Abu Dhabi’s growing role as a leading hub for healthcare life sciences and advanced medical research.
