Missouri Protoplex at MEMA. The Vehicle Suppliers Association At MEMA’s 2025 Aftermarket Technology Conference in Springfield, MO, Dr. Richard Billo, Director of the Missouri Protoplex, and Elias Snider, Senior Manufacturing Engineer, presented "Increasing Yield Through Advanced Manufacturing Technologies". They shared case studies in Cold Spray Coating, Hybrid Additive Manufacturing, and Laser Micro Welding, showing how Protoplex helps manufacturers and remanufacturers increase yield and throughput, reduce scrap, and improve cost efficiency—while meeting stringent quality and sustainability goals. The Protoplex, a state-of-the-art shared manufacturing facility at Missouri S&T, provides companies access to advanced equipment, specialized engineering expertise, and applied research to accelerate innovation and strengthen competitiveness. 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝: An Overview of Augmenting Technologies for Manual Assembly and Intralogistics   We are happy to share that we have published a new white paper. The paper presents a use-case-oriented framework for classifying augmenting technologies and includes 44 detailed technology fact sheets covering important features, use cases, benefits, challenges, and industry examples.   The report was developed with inspire AG as part of the Innosuisse-funded project ASSY 5.1, in collaboration with our industry partners Accelleron, Bossard Group, and maxon. It includes insights from literature, market research, expert interviews, company visits, and trade fairs. The framework and fact sheets help navigate the wide range of augmenting technologies by systematically linking them to process stages and typical use cases.
