📢 New Research Highlight! A recent study in Annals of Family Medicine shows that adolescents are highly satisfied with Behavioral Health services delivered through the PCBH model in primary care — and most said they wouldn’t have sought mental health care elsewhere if these services weren’t available in-clinic. ➡️ Key takeaway: Integrating behavioral health into pediatric primary care leads to earlier access, higher satisfaction, and fewer specialty referrals. 🔗 Read the abstract: https://lnkd.in/eFvSNShA

Buckner Children and Family Services strengthens Texas families through our community Family Hope Centers along with MIECHV funded home visiting programs, which provide evidence-based support for parents and young children in high needs communities across the state. A new study through the Administration for Children & Families (ACF) is taking a closer look at how states are implementing and enhancing these models to improve outcomes for children and families. This work highlights the importance of strong, evidence-based practices in prevention and early support, ensuring families have the tools they need to thrive. We are eager to see how these home visiting programs contribute to our family strengthening continuum for our families who need more intensive in-home support.
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS released new findings on the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program. The Mother and Infant Home Visiting Program Evaluation (MIHOPE) study found that direct interactions between home visitors and families resulted in improvements in families’ economic circumstances, reduced family conflict and violence, better maternal mental and behavioral health, and strengthened parent-child interactions. This reinforces that evidence-based programs emphasizing engagement improve family outcomes. 💬 "A simplistic binary response – either unrestricted access or outright bans – fails to account for the complex interplay of benefits and risks these platforms have for young people, the heterogeneity of young people’s experiences and preferences, and the range of potential policy actions available." Association for Child & Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH) Cassie Redlich, Ledia Lazëri, Jason Maurer, Jennifer Hall & Natasha Azzopardi Muscat join the debate on Social media in children and young people – time for a ban? Arguing that the debate must move beyond bans and simple binaries. Their response builds on the recent WHO Regional Office for Europe, Digital Transformations for Health Lab and Ministerstwo Zdrowia (Ministry of Health Poland) Policy Brief: the digital determinants of youth mental health and well-being, which advocates for a more nuanced evidence-informed approach that both empowers young people and their parents and holds social media platforms to account.
